The African Campaign, also referred to as the African Evacuation and more infamously among the Alliance as the African Retreat, was the Combine invasion of the African continent on Pol Earth not long after the creation of the Axis of Empires, and occurred a few years before Scorched America and the Invasion of America took place during the Second Earthican Civil War.
History[]
The invasion was swift and only lasted a year and six months from mid 1943 (1414 NE) to early 1945 (1416 NE) with the longest battles of the entire campaign being the Battles of Cairo and Cape Town, with the former meant to hold back Combine forces as Allied personnel both evacuate as many civilians as possible while also taking as much historical artifacts as they could as the HVF correctly believed the Combine will destroy everything in their occupation, and the latter was a final stand by Alliance forces trying to buy as much time for the civilian refugees to escape and was ultimately slaughtered to the last being.
While Combine advances were fast, it still gave the Alliance enough time to try and evacuate as many civilians as they could, although many Pol Earth states, especially elements of the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and South Africa generally refused to evacuate native civilians and instead focused on colonial personnel or resources, which in turn caused the Allied forces trying to evacuate civilians to routinely get into arguments over their actions. Even then, Alliance forces frequently run into problems during the evacuation, as the Natives poor experience from similar efforts by European colonial administrations, as well as their more immoral reasons, at best caused them to become skeptical of their efforts or even actively hostile, and Allied forces forcibly taking people from villages and onto trunks away from their homes did not help matters either, resulting in brief skirmishes between Natives and Allied forces. And likely because of these factors only 78%, about 171.6 million, of the total population was evacuated from the continent, leaving behind 22%, about 48.4 million, to the Combines, as they advanced deeper and deeper into the continent.
Aftermath[]
After the Alliance left the continent, many reports of arrests by the local Pol colonials mainly by product of racial discrimination and their attempts of intervention against Allied forces during the evacuations. Presidents Isaac Kleiner and Hilda Boesch both gave the governments a stern lecture of why it was important to save as many human lives as possible and valued it more than their Pol counterparts, giving them a statement of their world that suffered under the Combine invasion and reduced to less than billion survivors, they even added others who suffered similar to the results which silenced the officials and politicians of how the war was growing beyond their uderstanding. Many officers of the New Galactic Republic, the United Federation of Planets, and the Alliance to Restore the Republic also shared the mutual shock and dismay of what happened, and also shared their stories of how they suffered by their own mutual enemies.
The rift between the human societies of Golmar and Pol Earths stirred for a few weeks over their cultural views until President Kleiner immediately made a broadcast and gave many a history lesson of his homeworld and what they have done to survive during the Combine occupation, this also gave the African natives as well as the colonials to understand what they have done town back their world and plans to form resistance groups and gather intel to the occupation on Africa under the Combine control.
When the Combine took control of the continent, they immediately isolated the landmass from the rest of the planet while setting up bases, the Axis members native to Pol Earth were declined entry and seeing their incredible power had reluctantly gave in yet uncertain at the time of what they were doing. All communications and information about the Combine occupation became blurred as the First War continued for centuries, but the rumors that came out did not paint a good picture, as the Combine began to slowly wipe out the remaining 48.4 million people while thoroughly destroying every city, town, and village on the continent while constructing numerous conversion centers to converted the dead native population into more TransRace soldiers for the Combine military. In the end these rumors were sadly and horrifyingly proven correct as Alliance forces during their liberation of the continent found all of its cities completely destroyed, numerous conversion centers, and the only bodies they found were the mass graves of children who were frequently too young to be converted into a TransRace soldier or were not selected to become one of the Combine's more infamous synth variates.
There were sightings of bases with inter dimensional portals when spies reported finding them communicating with the Chimera which was uncertain why and footages of tall giant humanoids present in organic armor with no knowing of their appearance, yet with the Advisors obeying their commands which sparked questions of who these mysterious beings were and while also changing the Golmarans', and to the extension of the Alliance's understanding of the Combine's hierarchial system as beforehand they assumed the Advisors the rulers of the Combine Empire.
