"I don't wanna be the 'Newest Project', I don't wanna be the 'Zombie Messiah', I don't wanna be shit. I just wanna crawl up and die like everyone else."
Murphy's internal monologue during his torturous time under Imperial Research Group 975.
Alvin Murphy, also known as The Controller or the Messiah of the Undead by the Axis and Allies, was originally from of the Dor'viana Earth when part of it it fell into ruins under the Red Death Virus.
Receiving an experimental vaccine during emergency test trials to cure the virus, Murphy proved successful as he was bitten eight times yet didn't turn. Afterwards, he was to be delivered to a lab in California for Operation: Bitemark. Halfway across America however, the Empire of the Combine Race invaded and Murphy was captured as part of their experiments for the Red Death Virus.
Upon escaping however and calling himself the Messiah of the Undead, Murphy caused the Alliance and Axis a great deal of trouble as he attacked both sides with the billions of infected and mutants under his control in the Siege of Mordock.
Biography[]
Alvin Murphy was originally imprisoned for postal fraud in New York, but after an outbreak of the Red Death Virus, he was given to the government for experimentation on a vaccine. It worked as Murphy was bitten eight times and didn't suffer infection. Seeing that he has antibodies, the government assigned a team for Operation: Bitemark; the team would escort Murphy to California to harvest his antibodies. However, when him and the team got to Ohio, the Axis of Empires invaded in 2014 (XXXX NE).
The team and him were captured as their forces slowly began to conquer the planet. While the team were imprisoned by the Combine, the doctors discovered that the virus in his body had mutated to what the doctors could describe as, a 'command' strain. This 'command' strain allowed for the influencing and control of other undead.
Upon this discovery, Murphy met a much more terrible fate than the team, one that even other Alliance soldiers shiver at; he was given over to Imperial Research Group 975. In their care, Murphy was exposed to doses of radiation that would have killed a human in seconds, drowned in concentrated chemicals, injected with serums designed to rewrite the genetic code, and constantly suffering from malnutrition and blood drawing.
Throughout the duration of their tests, the scientists were able to create a specialized strain of Red Death that allowed them to control the infected. These strains were given to volunteers of the project, however it was discovered that Murphy could control them as well when he used one to undo his binding in one of his many escape attempts.
However, a raid on their labs by an Alliance squad, including the team that were assigned to escort Murphy, ended up finding him. Their horror was palpable at his appearance; his skin was blue and strained, his eyes were a sickly green, numerous needles were stuck into his body connected to IVs that constantly drew dark blood, and the eight bite scarred had deformed and spread thin. Murphy grunted as they unhooked him from the IVs and pulled him up, "You took your time."
The Siege of Mordock[]
Personality[]
Murphy was considered to be a misunderstood human who was afflicted with severe PTSD as a result of being partially eaten alive and experimented by the Combine. As a result of being forced to undergo this trauma "for humanity," he showed no care about it after he was rescued. Trying to move past it, now that there was no one left to contradict him, his survival account painted himself as a hero who volunteered to be injected as something you need to do "for the kids", rather than a crying, begging, pleading inmate who had no choice. Due to the massive amounts of experimentation, Murphy became a very cynical, sarcastic, and rather unpleasant person. However, as time went by and he gained control over swathes of undead, he gained an impressive megalomania and delusions of grandeur.
Powers and Abilities[]
Murphy is quite dangerous as he gave the Alliance and the Axis a great deal of trouble with his army of infected during the Siege of Mordock, which he won.
Viral Empowerment: Murphy rarely needs to sleep or intake nutrients due to the Red Death Virus. His body also no longer produces fatigue toxins.
Mutation Inducement: Due to the experiments from the Combines, Murphy can manipulate the virus in his system allowing him to give it knew characteristics and abilites. He then bite someone and infect them with the new virus.
Mind Control: Because he possesses the Control Strain of the Red Death Virus, Murphy can control anybody infected with the virus. He can even control people with the dormant strain if he can infect them with his bodily fluids.
