The Arachnid wars, also known as the Bug Wars was a set of 8 conflicts that started in 2245 (1429 NE) was aimed in the extermination of the Bugs in the Riuuliua Universe, which were led by the United Citizen Federation, with the support of the Human-Vortigaunt Federation, the Galactic Republic and later on a small force of the Imperium of Man, members of the Alliance of Nations to lend their support to the Federation. The first 3 conflicts saw many victories for the Federation and its allies, but the evolution of the Arachnid species proved challenging to combat.
The first 4 wars saw light use of armoured forces for the Federation who largely felt that mass infantry was the way to go. However they did not expect that the Arachnid species have bugs that could fire plasma charges into the atmosphere which resulted in the loss of several starships including a single Battle Barge, while its void shield was enough to defend it, the shield was overloaded by mass fire and it was too big of a target to evade any shots. In the Elster conflicts, the Imperium's high fleet admirals at first suggest the Exterminatus was considered to wipe the menace, but United Citizen Federation and the Alliance needed the resources of the habitable planets occupied by the bugs, plus the Arachnids could just simply throw asteroids and ride with them to invade new planets across the Milky Way. The ground combat in the early days of the Arachnid wars saw massive casualties listed in the tens of millions. The Space Marine chapters proved to be defensive fortresses due of their armour able to tank hits from the bugs, but even Adepta Astartes were lost to the massive hordes of Arachnids. The Republic Troopers were more trained soldiers and equipped facing the Arachnids alongside Clone Troopers. Aircraft were easily taken down by airborne varants of the warrior bugs with the Tanker Bug being a fromidable if not deadly foe.
The Armoured forces joined up in the first war and were great at defeating the Arachnids until in the later half of the first war were a newer tanker bug proved resilient to Armoured piercing shells. The Super heavy tanks of the Imperium of man and Imperial tanks were not deployed because of how ancient and few in numbers these technologies in the Imperium were. Although a single Imperial knight was deployed, but was destroyed by a massive swarm of Arachnids that clambered all over the titan and toppled it.

Prelude[]
The United Citizen Federation declared a quarantine zone in Arachnid space. Despite this, Mormon colonists ignored the warnings and founded Port Joe Smith on a world in Arachnid space. Eventually the Arachnids reacted and massacred the Mormon settlers.
Seeing Humanity threatening their space, the Arachnids retaliated and fired an asteroid towards Riuuliua Earth. During its flight the asteroid collided with a Corvette transport the Rodger Young causing damage to the ships comms preventing it from warning anyone. The asteroid remained undetected until it was too late reaching the Federation's capital world and impacting its surface at Buenos Aires in 2245 (1429 NE). Millions were instantly killed including the parents of Johnny Rico.

The United Citizens Federation began deploying their fleet on the Bug homeworld Klendathu. The attack was a complete defeat with lack of knowledge of the hostile enemy's strength, they easily assumed to be mindless creatures to exterminate. However, this proved to be a grave error for the Federation to send soldiers into a battle with no reconnaissance to report, believing the Bugs would hardly damage their ships from orbit, but the Federation fleet in orbit was devastated and clashed into one another in disarray by Tank Bugs firing Plasma out into Klendathu's orbit to catch the Humans off-guard, resulting in heavy casualties for the United Citizen Federation, even more so on the surface with soldiers that made it through the bombardment by luck, with no armoured tanks, heavy weapons, surface reports available, the Mobile Infantry were on their own with only their weapons and scattered across the surface, firing randomly on the Arachnids they find. The Infantry forces proved incapable against the Arachnids with numbers against them and fired wildly. The first battle was a devastating loss for the Federation with over over 308,000 Mobile Infantry their lives, the destruction of several ships and damage of many others. Making the Military council to realise the Arachnids far more intelligent than they thought.

Civil Unrest[]
Over the years with the war going on, a steady growth of revolts and uproars across the Federation with citizens and civilians feeling oppressed by military oppression and forced to join the war, political campaigns causing rifts and threats against those who are either with the Federation and the Alliance, or face execution for 'treason', for the alien members such as the Skinnies, this is different as it is affected mainly towards humans. The Outer Colonies slowly saw the Alliance as a hopeful cause, even considering a succession under their protection. There had been theories that the High ranked citizens instigated bombings on several high ranked officers and politicians who ere against war to blame Pacifist movements. Officers of the Alliance fear this may lead to a civil conflict if the Terran Federation cannot settle the situation and make an attempt to support their colonies.
