Biography[]
Early Life[]
Invasion of Pastel[]
The Broken Prince's attack[]
In his mind, he assumed he was dead when he tackled his father out the window but instead he and his father were caught by a massive being in a armor he never seen before.
In the weeks after the brutal death of his father and his maiming, Blaine had plenty to think about before deciding to leave the palace and wonder his homeworld on a personal quest to determine rather or not he is fit to be king.
Alliance Diplomacy[]
Personality and Traits[]
Blaine had inherited his mother's auburn hair and has his late father's red eyes.
Blaine had been praised for being studious, strong, and the prime example of a Plaid Prince. He has achieved many things, being a very popular model, a philanthropist, a skilled pianist, and was his father's favorite (most preferred) son. Due to the latter, he looked down on Frederick as the "family failure". Following up his public mask as 'the perfect Plaid Prince charming". However, Blaine was once been insecure about only being known for his adequate looks, and terrified to not live up to others' expectations. He's as strict to himself as his father was when he was alive, and is very self-aware of his image and how people see him. This was in fact hidden mask that he deems as ugly, only bare by himself to Maria as his fiancee although all of his family members know it.
After the piano duel, Blaine confessed to Maria that, for a long time, he had been afraid of falling from the top. As a child, he was excited about everything he had the privilege to do, like being able to play the piano. He quickly learned that, if he did it well, more people would look up to and be proud of him, but it didn't feel good to have his place stolen. To avoid this, he tried to do even better, but all it did was make him feel more scared of falling from his place. In response, he started doing things he didn't really care about, like modeling and joining the Bippity Boppity Gala committee, to keep rising. However, all it did was make his fall feel more inevitable; and, when his fall at the piano duel did come, it felt like everyone he had known was turning his back on him.
Skills and Abilities[]
Relationships[]
Romances[]
Maria[]
Blaine was formerly engaged to Princess Maria, the eldest princess of the Pastel Kingdom. He was quite happy with marrying Maria as soon as possible, and it had been noted that he is very much in love with her, if not for her personality but her looks. After a stinging remark from Beckett, a Pastel guard in love with Maria, Blaine started trying to get to know Maria better, and began by asking about her childhood hopes and dreams. After seeing her fangirling, confessing about how she wasn't perfect, saying that Blaine was sweet, and telling him that he didn't have to improve overnight for her, he realized that he was falling even deeper in love with her.
When Blaine asked Maria to the Bippity Bop Gala after she discovered the invitation in her gift in the jewelry store, she accepted. When he saw Maria upset, he decided to listen to her instead of throwing the serenade. Blaine thought it was terrible that her father wouldn't let her sing to the public and attempted to console her by saying that she would be welcomed with open arms by all their people, as well as his fan base. When Maria asked Blaine to comfort her, he offered to hold a secret, impromptu concert for her in the Pastel Plaza for everyone in town to attend. They then became deeply absorbed in music so Maria could practice for her performance.
At Princess Gwendolyn's dinner party, he noticed that Maria was distant to him. After the meditation session, Maria went up to Blaine and told him that she agreed with his father regarding something and that she extremely desired to kiss him and show that that he's her greatest wish, the object of her desire. However, that only upset Blaine even more, causing Blaine to push her away, snap, and follow his father again. He was also likely upset when Maria didn't show up at the 124th Annual Artgyle Festival. Blaine and Maria growing closer at Bippity Bop Gala, since Maria accepting and wants to learn all about him especially his flaws that actually make him human.
However, this all broke down once the revelations of what he though of her youngest sister came to light, with the relationship between the two breaking down completely ending any future of romance between the two, although the two did eventually became friends once more.
Family[]
Lance Durand[]
Prince Lance is Blaine's younger brother. They are both 'successful' princes and are close, both going to the same Military Academy - unlike Frederick, who was homeschooled before being sent to a different school. The two have a close bond, and are shown to be the most friendly with each other of the brothers. Blaine aspires to be a great ruler and to have Lance as his right hand man, showing a great amount of trust in him. The two work together well, with things such as taking the princesses to the Haunted House, teaming up to help Frederick with a balcony serenade, and teaching Frederick's bullies a lesson- even if their plans don't always end up going exactly how they wanted. Blaine and Lance often make lighthearted quips at each other and generally seem to get each other, both enduring rough parenting from Leland just as Frederick has.
Frederick Durand[]
Prince Frederick is Blaine's youngest brother. Blaine originally tended to look down at him, making fun of him for being the family failure, and being annoyed by his overactive imagination. Blaine was angry at Frederick when he ditched him and Lance to talk to Gwendolyn by himself, even after his brothers spent a week planning a serenade just for him. It was eventually revealed to the brothers that Frederick had conversed with Gwen without their help, but Blaine still 'hmph'ed at him in disapproval. Even so, he told his father that Frederick asked Gwendolyn to the gala. Blaine was generally proud of him for doing something and pushing all the way through, but Blaine also could holds Frederick accountable for past mistake especially the one that makes engagement fiasco.
At Gwendolyn's Dinner Party, Blaine expressed his shock that Frederick had a friend. When Whitney, said friend, gave him feedback on his posture while they were meditating, Frederick giggled, causing him to be enraged. After Whitney told Blaine to be more like Frederick, he expressed that he clearly did not want to do so. Blaine was therefore shocked when King Leland said that he agreed with Whitney, and was distraught when Leland told him that Frederick was on his way up. Leland triggering Blaine's worry that Frederick someday will replacing him, at the top of his imaginary mountain. This making Blaine growing unreasonable fears of someday, Frederick will replacing him at the top of 'his imaginary mountain' - as Blaine secretly thinks that
However, Blaine does seem to care about Frederick. This has been shown when he felt happy for Frederick over the fact that he was going to marry the "youngest daughter" in the portrait, and felt remorse for pushing Frederick too hard when he was assisting him. Blaine also stood up for Frederick when Lord Leopold was about to take Princess Gwendolyn away, forfeited a piano competition to search for him, supported Frederick when he was dueling Leopold to fight for Gwendolyn, and helped him plan on how to ask Gwendolyn out. And, despite being disappointed that Frederick took back the gala ticket when Gwendolyn handed it back to him, thinking it was an "important bookmark".
Isolde Yujo[]
Blaine is Queen Isolde's oldest son, and she seems to care for him as much as her other sons. However, it has been shown that he was taken away from her by castle staff when he was a baby, and she did admit to Prince Jamie she didn't know if she trusted Blaine and Lance enough to tell them about their father's plan.
it came at a total shock when he found out his mother was pregnant and wanted to know who the father is considering she had been a widow for years but she wanted to keep it a secret from them. He knew if word got out that his mother's pregnancy, they would considered her being unfaithful to her late husband and the deceased king's remaining allies would do harm to her and her unborn child. Blaine made it his efforts to make sure the public believed the unborn child was adopted as a war orphan from offworld, coming from one of the many planets that had been ravaged by one of the many remnant factions. Yet still wanting to know who the father of his half-sister, Emilie is.
Leland Plaid[]
As his father's eldest son, Blaine had been trying to live up to his father's expectations ever since he was a child- and he actually had been, receiving honors and accolades, and maintaining connections everywhere. Blaine had always been described as Leland's preferred son by Leland himself, due to Blaine being "perfect" - smart, hard-working, and loyal. Leland is extremely strict towards Blaine. He promises him the throne in exchange for all his hard work, to which Blaine accepts.
Emilie Yujo[]
Emilie is Blaine's half-sister born out of wedlock between his mother, Isolde, and Makoto. While at first, he was mildly jealous of his younger sister for gaining more affection from their mother than he or his brothers did, Blaine did come to love his sister and accepted her as part of the family, making it his oath among his brothers to protect her, knowing if anyone found out she was in fact born out of wedlock would be very bad if the public knew about this, he made it his duty to keep Emiliue safe and continued to act as if she was adopted. Even noted how his sister had taken her fondness for sweets and desserts after their mother. He was much like his brothers in finding out who the father is and making him take the responsibilities until he noted her sudden ability to use ice and water magic, even noting the physical traits that reminded him of someone, until finding out it was none other than the Keybearer Makoto Yujo, who would become his step-father.
Makoto Yujo[]
Blaine first met Makoto among the few who helped protected his family and his mother from assassins who plotted to sabotage the relations between the kingdoms and the offworld stellar nations. He first offered to spar with him and was amazed of how skilled his swordsmanship and his magic. Learning a few advice from him to give from previous experiences and offered his condolences for the loss of his father after mutual loss of family members from the war. While truly grateful for his help in protecting his brothers and mother, he was oblivious to the sudden strong affections his mother had for the keybearer. It wasn't until several years later to discover that Makoto Yujo was in fact the father of his half-sister Emilie and believed he took advantage of his mother and leaving her to take the burden. After some time, came to accept him as his new step-father after marrying his mother and how he has treated her much more better than his late father ever did.
