The Bothan Assault Cruiser was a capital ship developed by the Bothan military and employed by the Alliance Defense Fleet shortly before the Second War. The starship was 850 meters in length with a crew of 1,240, an armed complement of 250, cargo capacity of 5,000 metric tons, and two years of consumables. Designed to fill the role occupied by the aging Victory I-class Star Destroyer, the Bothan Assault Cruiser was armed with twenty-four heavy dual turbolaser cannons, twenty turbolaser cannons, ten ion cannons, twenty proton torpedo launchers with sixteen missile magazines, and four tractor beam projectors.
Designed by the Bothan military to fill the role occupied by the aging Victory Star Destroyer, the Bothan Assault Cruiser was officially introduced in the First Aftermath. While the motives and timing behind this move were questioned by many, others saw it as a response to the Kyyisa Crisis which very nearly triggered another civil war in the skies above Bothawui, one which the Bothan defences would have been unable to withstand. Although slightly shorter than the Victory the BAC fielded an impressive array of weaponry, as well as armour and shields 150% heavier than those found on its predecessor.
