Caine is a blind yet extremely skilled assassin and martial artist who was coerced by Vincent Bisset de Gramont to find and kill his old friend John Wick. Shortly after Caine started as an assassin, he met a young and elegant woman named Reyna Vazilon. She was both very beautiful and very intelligent and soon Caine became very attracted to Reyna and asked her to marry him a month later. Reyna accepts Caine's request and a year later they have a daughter named Mia. Soon after Mia is born, Caine learns that Reyna is a bounty hunter and one night asks her which organization she belongs to. Reyna responds by telling Caine to wait for dawn. At dawn, Reyna goes out of the house for a walk and does not return home even after hours. Concerned for his wife, Caine goes out to look for Reyna and sees her body lying on the walkway. Reyna had taken a bullet in the back of her neck. Caine takes a closer look and sees that there is a letter on the body. The letter said that Reyna thanked Caine for everything but that she had to leave because her work in this universe was done. At the end of the letter was the symbol of the Crimson Dawn.
