Dr. Charlotte Morningstar, more commonly referred to as Charlie, is the Plains-born Mort princess of Haei'tuusik Hell and the founder of the Happy Hotel. Despite what her father and most of Haei'tuusik Hell thinks of this plan of hers, she fully believes that redemption is possible for any and all demons and hopes that this will lead to the betterment of her home. While she is a mort, she uniquely is a mort not born from a previous human but instead was born in the plains itself, a fact of which she has with her mother, Lilith Morningstar.
In 2019 Haei'tuusik (2419 NE), she finally put her plan in motion, and made an announcement of her hotel's opening through Haei'tuusik Hell's news service, unfortunately this did not go as plain, as her first "tenant" was caught up in a turf war following the yearly extermination and she round up getting into a fight with one of the hosts resulting in her becoming a laughingstock across that version of hell. But unaware to her, Alastair, one of Haei'tuusik Hell's many Overlords, watched the entire thing earning his interesting, and a number of Heralds watched the announcement with equal interest, with one, Leysa, Herald of the Lover, even going out of her way to find and meet her in person, right after Alastair had formed his partnership with the princess of hell, although none of them knew of the affect this meeting and her plan has over the coming year.
Over that year since her announcement, barely any demons had actually visited her hotel, and the few that did, simply never intended to partake in the rehabilitation program, using the hotel as a cheap room to rent. Yet, this was all about to change a week after the 2420 NE start of the year extermination. In a normally dull morning, Charlie and her coworkers had a surprising visit in the form of her father and mother bursting into the hotel, with looks of absolute fear and panic, with her father going so far as to grab his daughter and tried to explain why he and her mother was in such a state. But before he could, the heralds of the Entities arrived to the hotel, to see it themselves as well as to introduce them to people they were either going to help, hinder or both, as well as show the Entities, specifically the Hunter, proclaiming that their universe and its' versions of Hell and Heaven has been selected for their recent "game" with a specific challenge in mind, redeem and reform hell or have hell, heaven and their connected earth and the universe it resides in, destroyed by the Hunter.
In the three months that followed, Haei'tuusik Hell underwent something akin to a war between three groups of Entities, those helping her, those hindering her and those who could do either, which is made even more complicated as their god, whom slowly discovered to be a monster who had repeatedly raped her father and produced a child in the process, her half-brother (and half-uncle), Absalom, and how she had run heaven in a horrid hypocrisy with plenty of demons being found in Haei'tuusik Hell actually being virtuous people whose only sin was following the wrong religion or not worshipping a faith at all, was actively trying to stop them. Slowly but surely, she and her friends and family had succeeded in their goals and had the game end in the continuation of their universe, along the way God was killed and Absalom took her place and instantly put reforms across their heaven just as Lucifer was enacting his own reform. But to her shock and horror, one of her guest, Angel Dust, had accepted his fate and had a final death, a fact of which she discovered would happen once a human-born demon redeem themselves, they do not go to heaven, instead, they pass onto oblivion. While sadden by this, she continues the program, still wishing to help the people of hell in whatever way she can and joining the effort of helping the Sinners to start a new life outside Hell and become better people, as well as to prevent them becoming a dangerous Mort with abusive powers.

shows strong compassion towards her friends and her people. She's naïve and theatrical, while also bursting with passion. Charlie does everything in her power to make everyone happy and is determined to make her kingdom into a better place. However, she can be stubborn whenever something doesn't go her way. She also has a huge passion and love for musical theatre. So much so that she says herself that she communicates more information through song.
Despite being sweet and naïve, it doesn't make her a pushover or stupid. When Katie Killjoy kept ruthlessly mocking her idea, Charlie stole her pen and called her a bitch. Even when Katie turned into her demon form, Charlie began to fight back and even possibly set Tom Trench on fire. When Alastor offered to make a deal with Charlie by a handshake, she refused and used her status by ordering Alastor to help her with the hotel for as long as he desires, which he agrees to. She is also not above letting a few cuss words slip. Charlie also knows that not all demons are redeemable since she admits that she knows how evil Alastor can be and most likely not going to change for the better.
Charlie also struggles with feelings of inferiority, calling herself a failure in the opening song sequence and being seen as such by some of Hell's inhabitants. While she is often striving to do better and make a difference for the betterment of Hell, she is prone to self-doubt and sulking whenever her plans fail horribly.

- given God effectively adopted Lucifer and the other Archangels as her children, Charlie's half-brother Absalom is also her uncle as well, and to say she (and all of Haei'tuusik Hell, Heaven and Earth) was disturbed by this revelation is putting it mildly.
- While she still a bubbly woman, the Challenge certainly has left its' mark on her, albeit in more subtle ways, chief among them is her grief over the passing of her girlfriend and the realization that her program won't be bring people to heaven but rather helping them accept themselves and their faults and truly pass on to oblivion with both afterlives not true afterlives at all, these inevitably subtly change how she looks at things as well as the chaos it brought to her universe.
- Following the challenge Charlie went to the University of Utopia City to study in the field of psychology and therapy in order to further help her patients and to continue her program in light of the Alliance's stricter laws and regulations involving psychological and threptic health centers.
- Though it takes some time, she did eventually start dating once again, though a part of her still grieves over the passing of her late girlfriend.
- She and her husband still have the same surname and never changed them, but their children all have a hyphen surname of their family's names,
