Curzon Dax was a joined Trill and the seventh host to the Dax symbiont. He was known as Curzon Antrani until the joining in 2285 (1432 NE). Unlike most joined Trills, Curzon had a tendency to be boisterous and flamboyant in both his personal and professional dealings. He was well respected by many Alliance members, even by Axis members such as the Klingons despite in the times of the war in their home universe. Curzon Dax led a very long and full life, having lived past his 100th birthday. According to Jadzia, Curzon was known to fall in love with someone new every week and he was romantically involved with members of several species, Curzon also loved to play tongo and enjoyed Juro Counter punchas well as attending the Rujian Steeplechase. Like most of the other hosts of Dax, however, he had no musical talent.
At the end of his life, Curzon Dax was fatally wounded in an attack by the Eliksni House of Wolves in 2367 (1514 NE).
Biography[]
Curzon was trained in the art of diplomacy in his younger days by the legendary Sarek of Vulcan while serving as his aide. After leaving Sarek's tutelage, Curzon would call his former teacher whenever he needed help focusing on a problem.
The Dax symbiont's second host Tobin Dax had previously been a close friend of Sarek's father Skon during the 22nd century (14th Century NE).
By the late 2280s, Curzon, in his twenties, developed a close relationship with Federation President Hiram Roth when he was the Trill representative to the Federation and maintained the role to represent in the Filo Galactic Republic. In 2289 (1436 NE), at the request of President Roth, Curzon was sent to the Korvat colony to talk with the Klingons over a temporary cease fire with the aid of the Jedi Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano.
Corzon was also represented among the Federation and allied council members at the Khitomer Conference 22XX (14XX), Dax walked out on a posturing speech that was being given by Klingon Captains Kang, Koloth, and High Council junior member Gorkon, knowing that angering Kang and Koloth was the only way to get him to move beyond posturing and into real negotiations for their two sides to have a breather in the War in the Beta Quadrant while also shared a dream of a peace between enemies. Curzon was chased and tackled by Kang who held a blade to Curzon's throat until he was saved by Anakin by punching the Klingon in the face with his cybernetic hand and recalled it a good punch. Curzon was then asked by Kang if this was how the Federation and the Alliance sought to make a treaty.
Curzon looked at Kang and said in colorful language that the negotiations would begin when Kang was finished releasing gases from his mouth. Kang and Koloth then laughed, this opened the door for Curzon to form a close relationship with all three Klingon warriors. Curzon and Kang became such good friends, that when Kang's first child was born, it was named Dax in his honor and Curzon also became his godfather. When the Albino killed the sons of all three Klingons, Curzon entered into a blood oath with them to avenge the deaths. Sometime in his life, Curzon, during his zhian'tara, got Tobin Dax drunk. The ploy was successful, but it angered USS Excelsior captain Hikaru Sulu, who considered Curzon to be a loose cannon and could have made it worse had Anakin not been there. It had no immediate effect on the current conflict between the Federation and the Klingons.
Dax earned the respect of many powerful Klingons during this period, including Kang, Kor, Gorkon, Azetbur and Koloth,. Kang named his first born after Curzon. Curzon swore an blood oath to pursue the Albino. Another was General Navok, who agreed, given Dax's assurances, to meet secretly with Captain Spock and former Admiral Harrison Morrow and reveal to them the weaknesses behind the Klingon Empire's militaristic facade and the currant locations of the Combine military bases in a hidden nebula.
Curzon Dax recalls attending to Anakin and Padme's 3rd son's wedding to a royal princess from Alderaan during his visit. Seeing their daughters, he recalled how beautiful they were as he was tempted to dance with them, but respected them as he did with Leia Skywalker who was with Han Solo (FIlo) and made a comment of his wife being a sister, only to get a reaction from Anakin for the humour. But he gave a compliment of how lucky their son was to marry a princess.
Around 2339 (1486 NE), Curzon was involved in resolving the Klaestron Civil War. He became a friend of the Klaestron General Ardelon Tandro and had an affair with Ardelon's wife Enina. In 2369, Curzon Dax was accused posthumously of treason and murder for killing Ardelon Tandro. The Dax symbiont was placed on trial for the crimes. When Ardelon's widow came forward to admit the truth, Curzon was cleared, and Jadzia Dax was set free.
Dax first met Starfleet officer Benjamin Sisko when the young cadet was assigned to him as attaché at Pelios Station in 2353 (1500 NE). The two later served on the USS Livingston together. After Curzon's death, when Odo took on his memories and personalities, Curzon-Odo called him "the best friend I ever had. The two would form a close mentor/student relationship and Curzon would once describe Sisko as "The best friend I ever had." In 2360 (1507 NE), Curzon recommended Sisko to Admiral Uhura of Starfleet Intelligence for an undercover assignment beyond the borders of the Romulan Star Empire.
Death[]
The Curzon host was over 100 years old by 2367 (1514 NE). By then, it became clear that Curzon was fatally injured during the attack by members of the Fallen House of Wolves during the mission to negotiate with the Awoken from the Duiz'zui Universe and fought back against them when saving the queen from a shot, taking the hit for her. The Federation brought the fatally wounded ambassador back to his home universe to save the symbiont. Jadzia Idaris soon learned of this, and requested that when the time came that she be the next person to host the Dax symbiont. Curzon did not object to Jadzia being the next host. While on vacation on Risa, Curzon's health took a turn for the worse. The Dax symbiont, and all of Curzon's memories, went on to reside in the new host for the symbiont, Jadzia Dax.
Legacy[]
During Jadzia's zhian'tara, the Changeling Odo claimed the personality and memories of Curzon. During this time, Odo's shapeshifting abilities caused him to even look like Curzon – indeed, the Trill Guardian speculated that Odo's shapeshifting abilities essentially allowed him to "join" with Curzon much like a symbiont would with a host – and Curzon was able to reunite with Benjamin Sisko. At first, Curzon and Odo wished to remain as they were, robbing Jadzia of Curzon's memories. But after talking with Jadzia with the help of Sisko, Curzon admitted his love for Jadzia, acknowledged he was being selfish, and returned to Dax. Jadzia assured him that they would always be together through Dax. Curzon's restored memories also provided Jadzia with a first-hand idea of the joy and freedom Odo found in his shapeshifting abilities, while giving Odo a unique insight into life as a solid, prompting him to admit that food, drink, and other physical pleasures were so compelling he was amazed that Curzon had ever managed to get any work done.
