Donald Duck, formerly Royal Mage Donald Duck and better known as Archmage Donald Duck, is a powerful mage native of the Malica Universe and was once the royal mage of the Kingdom of Shikaagou serving under Queen Minnie and King-consort Michael, better known as Mickey Mouse, until its' dissolution in 85 AXC (1345 NE) and served as Mickey's closest confidant during the Xehanort Crisis and took on a more direct role during the Heartless Crisis in 10 AXC (1270 NE) when Mickey disappeared into the realm of darkness and he and Goofy Goof went across the disconnected worlds to find a keyblade mentioned by Mickey in his letter to them and in the process found Sora Yujo who turned out to hold procession of said keyblade, at which point he and Goofy took it upon themselves to form a partnership with the young teen and in the process of their first adventure put an end to the Heartless Crisis before being put into a year long slumber after a misadventure in Castle Oblivion, now Lands of Departure, only to be awoken in 11 AXC (1271 NE) in a second adventure and the start of the Xehanort Conflict where he aided the Seven Guardians of Light combat Xehanort Cheirismos and his efforts to summon Kingdom Hearts for his own purposes and goals. But the victory was made bittersweet as Sora mysterious disappearance followed its' conclusion and he, and the rest of the Guardians and Goofy in a two-year search that only resulted in the rest of the Guardians and their companions, besides himself, Mickey and Goofy, disappeared not to been seen for centuries. Broken-hearted and defeated, Donald retreated from public life. He did not participate in the search as actively as Mickey or Goofy, as he felt all the trauma he underwent over the four years come back to him in force. He stepped back from the search to recover and reconnect with his family, although he did ask for updates from Mickey.
Donald for the next decade would spend time with his family on Shikaagou, especially with his triplet nephews and uncle Scrooge McDuck, going on adventures with them, most of which frequently involved the hunt for treasures all over Shikaagou. However, that time was a time of great change as the worlds began to reconnect with one another and the universe's two primary superpowers, the Terran Empire and United Galactic Federation, began to compete with each other over their respected influence over the universe, especially the reconnecting worlds. This growing astropolitical tension was of little concern for Donald, his ultrarich uncle, or the nephews he raised, as Scrooge used the dismantling of the old world order to hunt for treasure all across the universe. During said adventures, more than once did Donald and his family encountered many of Scrooge's old enemies and rivals (or more often self-declared enemies and rivals) as well as many other foes and creatures along the way, which his previous time with Sora and Goofy had helped considerably, as well as his own immense magical powers and abilities, made him into the family's more active protectors alongside his uncle, despite his own advanced age. Yet as their adventures continued, Donald found himself interacting more and more with the people he interacted with during his early adventures during the Heartless Crisis and Xehanort Crisis as well as the two-year search for Sora when he disappeared, and that alone led to many awkward conversions between himself and the rest of his family over how he knew them in the first place.
But in the year 17 AXC (1277 NE), Donald and the rest of his family were found by his long lost twin sister and the mother of his nephews, Della Duck, who he and the rest of his family had long thought dead and gave him hope that perhaps there's a chance that Sora and his friends could be found again. But that came with it unforeseen events that made their adventures take a considerably darker turn, the first such event that marked such a turn was a sudden attack on his uncle's massive vault-office complex by a group of soldiers he never seen before but they carried weapons that were considerably more advance then anything Shikaagou had, or any civilization for that matter, and yet were paradoxically covered in simple armor and metal helmets with glowing lenses, but regardless of these strange contractions, they were considerably more deadly and brutal than anyone he or Scrooge had face before, as they killed the guards to the island and anyone else that tried to stop them, leaving the lobby appearing more akin to a warzone than a lobby for a personal vault and office, yet they were not after his uncle money but were raiding the labs for something. When he and his sister and uncle finally arrived to get them out, most of the soldiers had left and took whatever it was they were after. Still, some were left behind and quickly fought them, almost killing Della and Scrooge multiple times, forcing Donald to use more dangerous magics to kill the soldier. For a few months that was the only dark aspect of their lives up until an attempted invasion of a species native to his homeworld's moon, whose leader, Lunaris, insisted on it being called a planet, but was put to a stop due to Lunaris not counting on the involvement of the Terran Empire and United Galactic Federation, which states gotten involved to facility improved relations with the Kingdom of Shikaagou. Their ships quickly disabled the invading ships he had prepared (which surprisingly suffered no losses). Still, before he could escape, he was killed by a similarly dressed soldier that raided the Bin's research labs months ago and he attempted to chase him, however he escaped aboard strange, clearly organic but machine-like things after destroying Lunaris's capital ship.
In the months, and into the year 18 AXC (1278 NE) that followed that failed invasion and the death of Lunaris, Donald's family continued to go on adventures or just relaxed as much as possible. All of these were normal events for the Duck-McDuck family, but things slowly started to take on a darker turn not long after his uncle, nephews, and Webby found the lost fountain of youth and more notably during Scrooge's visit to his research facility in Saint Canard when a group of soldiers and a strange, but terrifying alien assaulted the facility in order to capture the Ramrod for purposes yet to be determined. However, it was made complicated by Taurus Bulba and later FOWL's actions (and said event revealed Bradford's role in the organization) and the resulting attack ended up killing Taurus and destroying the very device they attempted to steal, and forcing FOWL to escape. In contrast, Bradford was forced to reveal his true allegiance. Yet, this event also had an unexpected benefit: one of the soldiers who was with the telepathic alien defected, the same soldier who killed Lunaris.
In the next six months, Scrooge began to actively counter, or try to counter, FOWL's actions and trying to capture a grouping of artifacts he and his family were already looking for. However, FOWL was also looking for esoteric artifact that the Duck-McDuck were unaware of, although Donald did notice them but was unable to determine what FOWL is getting but the fact that the former members of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn started to get involved implied something more then something relating to his family. Three months after the events in Saint Canard, Sora's parents, Daichi and Akiko Yujo contacted him and asked to be involved in his search, which Donald accept, purely due to him getting nothing from his own search and figured a new set of perspective might help, although it helped somewhat, but still did not discover what or why FOWL is looking for these esoteric artifacts. Meanwhile his uncle and nephews was having more success in their own search, eventually finding where FOWL was and used Webby's 48th birthday to distract FOWL, although it turned out they were aware of them and was using it to force them toward a location FOWL has had control over for the past century, the ancient library of Alexandria, which ironically enough was located on the same world as the Keyblade Graveyard that Donald came to years ago to face Xehanort and his thirteen Darknesses during the Xehanort Conflict.
During the final battle, it became clear to them that Bradford was attempting to "end adventure" across the universe, which he blamed on the Duck-McDuck family, even as many of the captured people pointed out how illogical it all was. But he did not care about that fact, and continued to insist that it was Scoorge's fault for all the problems in the Malica Universe. However, he was himself blindsided when one of the being he thought he had under control, a remnant of Ultima from a long gone universe that, in the distant past, found itself in Malica, revealed itself and how it manipulated him to give him the powers needed to reforge the universe in its' image, and thanked him for bringing the vessel he intends to use to complete his goals, Daichi Yujo. This caused a fight over the fate of the universe, with Daichi and his wife and whoever else tried to help, Donald and his family being among them, fighting the wouldbe god, both parents of Sora being empowered by Lodthrinn and Etro to give them the edge needed to kill the being and put a stop to its' attempts at universal destruction, a fact they were successful, although not without loses. Yet even as Donald, his family, and friends celebrated their victory, remnants of FOWL and an even more determined, and likely now insane, Bradford fled to an area of Malica his organization had just discovered in the hopes of achieving his goals another way, with Donald and his family and allies, and surprisingly many of their rivals and enemies, in toe.
While tracking the remnants of FOWL, Donald and his family became apart of an expedition led by Milo Thatch to a part of Malica that is briefly mentioned in a number of ancient ruins, which is also the same area Donald and Scrooge believe FOWL fled to. But this expedition prove to be more then they bargain for as all the FOWL facilities they came across were increasingly filled with horrors as the agents and researchers there slowly went mad and slaughtered each other, slowly coming to the conclusion and realization that whatever part of the universe they were in had a clear malevolent force that was directly affecting people and creatures, with both the McDuck Clan, their friends and the expedition slowly getting more paranoid and having increasingly more commonplace nightmares, although thankfully this effect is a slow building one as the facilities became the nightmarish abandoned facilities over the course of months and they had no intention of staying in that region of the universe for too much longer. Additionally, they also uncovered numerous ruins of previous civilizations that were also slowly driven to madness and psychosis due to whatever influence exist there, be they civilizations that emerged slowly over time or other interstellar civilizations, many of which were considerably old, far older then any ruin Donald and his family ever been to. Eventually, the expedition arrived to the heart of this unsettling region of the Universe, and where Bradford was and whatever remnant of FOWL existed with him. But what they found on the planet was far more disturbing then what they discovered in the ruins of both the ancient structures and destroyed FOWL facilities, one such being the twisted and deformed human cannibals that lived on the planet, before tracking down Bradford to a cave containing some sort of ancient structure, a statue depicting some god-like figure with a clearly insane Bradford doing something Scrooge or the rest of the McDuck Clan and friends ever thought possible, and the sight was horrific as he sacrificed most of his surviving followers to call upon some monstrous deity only to be torn to pieces by the statue that was animated and it smiling a sadistic fanged-tooth grin, forcing the Expedition to fight the monstrous golem but not long after destroying the structure did the remnants of the same organization that occasionally show up attacked, forcing them to fight a bitter fight that quickly spiraled out of control as the mutated cannibal humans also joined the fight, but eventually they gained the upper hand but not without loses, chief among them the defector.
After such traumatic experiences the McDuck Clan and their friends decided it was best to stop adventuring for a while as they recovered but Donald eventually return to Mickey's side to help him in his search to find the lost guardians of light, a search that bore little fruit. But the universe was more preoccupied with other events beyond their control, as the two superpowers of the universe went to war and through this war lead to the rise of the Empire of the Heartless and the United Commonwealths of Worlds, although he had little influence on either the broader conflict or the states in question besides supporting the commonwealths over the empire, doubly so once the two states began to openly fight each other once again.
Eventually his friend did return after four centuries but to a chaotic time for Malica. Nonetheless Donald was happy his friends were back and quickly joined their side in the war against Ulciscor and the civil wars that torn both superpowers apart. And for once, after the end of those wars, Donald relaxed, at least for a little bit.
