Heinrich Luitpold Himmler was Reichsführer of the Schutzstaffel (SS), a military commander, and a leading member of the Nazi Party (NSDAP) of Greater German Empire. Nazi leader Adolf Hitler later appointed him Commander of the Replacement (Home) Army and General Plenipotentiary for the administration of the entire Third Reich (Generalbevollmächtigter für die Verwaltung). Himmler was one of the most powerful men in Nazi Germany. Himmler also held overall command of the Gestapo. He was the chief architect of the "Final Solution" and through the SS was overseer of the Nazi concentration camps, extermination camps, and Einsatzgruppen death squads. He held final command responsibility for annihilating "subhumans" who were deemed unworthy of living. On Hitler's behalf, Himmler formed the Einsatzgruppen and built extermination camps. As facilitator and overseer of the concentration camps, Himmler directed the killing of some eight hundred billion racial-people, between 200,000,000 and 500,000,000, and other victims; the total number of civilians killed by the regime is estimated at eleven to fourteen Trillion people. Most of them were Jewish, Batarian, Slavic and Elven citizens. He was also commanding the Black Guards, their military unit and bodyguards
