The emblem of the Jovian Empire
The Jovian Directorate, otherwise known as the Jove Empire is an enigmatic empire controlled by a mysterious race from New Eden known as the Jovian (Lo'opik), they were considered small but highly advance to the other empires of the Lo'opik Universe. Unlike the rest of the human civilisations fell by the collapse of the Eve gate, they survived and embraced genetic engineering to become the "perfect" the human race, making them the older known civilization of the New Eden Cluster. However, their genetic experiments produced a debilitating illness, the "Jovian Disease", that drives its victims into a deep depression that ends in suicide.
During the War in New Eden, the Jovian government remained untouched and an enigma, but have at times secretly gave information to the Alliance of Nations while maintaining neutrality despite the Alliance's help of ending the disease. The Jove Empire remained an enigma.
History[]
First Jovian Empire[]
The First Jovian Empire dates as far back as to the collapse of the EVE Gate. Unlike the many civilisations that have suffered by the collapse of the EVE Gate, the Jovian society was able to recover from the minor damage to sustain an advanced society within a few centuries. This marked the birth of the First Jovian Empire which would last for nine millennia.
The era of the First Empire eventually came to an end by the Jovian Elders, though the exact details are shrouded in mystery, though few speculate that the likely contributor to the downfall of the First Jovian Empire could be the Jovian Disease which is said to have appeared as a result of the "Shrouded Days".
The Jovian Elders maintained a strict governmental control over genetic alterations, however they eventually lost control for a few generations.
Second Jovian Empire[]
The Jovians were reunited by Miko Bour and the Second Jovian Empire was formed under his leadership, lasting approximately 2500 years. In a desperate attempt to finally rid themselves of the Jovian Disease after failing to find a cure, the Jovians decided to abandon their home worlds in Curse, in three starships capable of sustaining their civilization, chose to settled the regions of J7HZ-F and A821-A, where the third Empire would be established. Remnants of the Second Empire survived in wormhole space and in New Eden, in the form of the Drifters and the Sleepers.
Third Jovian Empire[]
Since the Shrouded Days, they have been trying to put the pieces together again, but their DNA-structure has in many ways been damaged beyond repair. The current Jovian Empires has prevailed for just over 500 years. Despite the reallocation of home worlds the Jovian Disease still prevalent among the Jove society continuing their steady decline.
Since introducing capsuleer technology to the Ishukone Corporation, defeating the Amarr Empire at the Battle of Vak'Atioth, they participated in establishing CONCORD and wiped out the original Sansha's Nation alongside the other four Empires, the Jove have become more reclusive on the interplanetary political scene with very little public communication with the other empires.
With a few exceptions, like Veniel and the Society of Conscious Thought, The Jove have kept little contact with the other empires since the capsuleer technology was released to the public in YC 105. In YC 116, a massive supernova known as Caroline's Star disabled the entire Jovian gate network, and it has remained disabled ever since. The current status of the Jove in their territory, whether they're still alive or not, remains unknown. It is known that a short time before the supernova occurred, the Jove had successfully developed the technology to open their own wormholes without Jumpgates, eliminating the need for them. The latest contact with the Jove was in YC 118, when the Directorate transferred the ownership of Genolution, Impro, and X-Sense to the Society of Conscious Thought.
It had been known that Sansha's Nation had confirmed presence in at least one system in Jovian territory, 3-CE1R, which was the location of a vault of Prosper, the Directorate's main investing corporation.
It may have been speculated that the Second Empire and their Drifter remnants had a war with the Triglavian Collective in ancient times, who call them the "Ancient Enemy Azdaja". Drifters and Triglavians continued to fight each other both in Abyssal Deadspace and in Pochven.
The Multiverse War[]
The Jovian Directorate had take notice of spacial tears unlike the wormholes, discovering them to be passageways to other universes, but those they have found were different and others being in a war among each other.
Culture and Society[]
From what is known about Jovians, is they crave knowledge. Their superior technology has enabled the Jovians to infiltrate the other races and cultures with bugging devices and sensors, giving them unrivaled access to information, which they have used to maintain their strong position among the civilizations of New Eden. Despite being mysterious, the Jovians maintain relations with the other races by selling their advanced technology and equipment. Usually they do so more with the races they find of rare mutual respect, which has kept them at bay. Jovian society is mysterious and difficult to comprehend. For this and other reasons it remains very much closed to the other races, and few foreigners reside within the Jove Empire.
Jovian Language[]
The Jovian language is a very strange tongue. Speech consists entirely of vowels and fluctuates rapidly in frequency.
Government[]
So far about the Jovians' highest known governmental body is the Jovian Directorate within the Jove Empire, though this has never been confirmed or denied by the Jove. The structure and purpose of the Jovian Directorate remains uncertain.
Military[]
The Jove Navy is a powerful group, but remains small due to the Jovian Disease. They rely on information and their advanced weaponry to destroy their opponents.
Foreign Relations[]
