The Peregrine Attack Fighter is lightly armed, fast and maneuverable. It is the standard fighter assigned to Federation vessels and starbases, analagous to the Klingon To'Duj Fighter and New Republic's X-Wing Fighter. It is used by the Alliance of Nations. Seeing the effectiveness of these quick, lightly armed vessels, Starfleet later adapted the design for use in some of the larger engagements of the First War.
