Portal Storm

Portal Storms are events that are often characterized by a multitude of portals into other universes often erupting after a devasting accident involving interuniversal travel-based technologies. These storms often cause widespread destruction via devastating shockwaves outwards typical of storms. This peculiar phenomenon is capable of inflicting severe structural damage to objects, such as buildings and bridges, often in the form of a blue "wave" which resonates from a source portal and moves across the landscape, negating gravity as it goes. Predictably, any objects in its path would suffer damage from the brief weightlessness effect these storms cause.

During the early days of the First Multiverse War, those types of storms were commonplace near areas where Allied forces constructed their early Kleiner-Freeman-Vance Drive Systems, which often opens up riffs into other universes, which in turn causes Portal Storms to erupt on any nearby stellar objects in a radius of 10 to 20 light-years. But as the KFV Drive Systems became more advanced and efficient, becoming small enough to be built into starships and even starfighters, so did the rate of portal storms occurring until they stopped entirely.

Portal Storms still do occur, but the rate in which they do occur is rare. The only times they do occur at all post First Multiverse War is often the result of accidents from two ships colliding with each other in KFV Drive, but these portal storms are notably more violent and chaotic than normal portal norms, characterized by a red "wave" and a violent portal as its' center, with the storm itself transporting parts of the environment with other parts of an environment connected to the other side of the Portal.

• Jaws of Oblivion: Located in the Hisato Sector in Pol Universe after the Japanese Empire used the the rifts too many times in 1508 NE (2037 Pol).

• Carpenican Rift: A dimensional rift opened in the region of the Eai'eei Milky Way.
