Qportait

The being known as Q is an extremely powerful and ancient god-entity with control over time, space and reality itself. Q took an interest in humanity, believing the species to be "The Ones" who could save all existence, including that of the Continuum itself, from obliteration at the hands of Them.

Q and other members of the Q Continuum claim to be omniscient and omnipotent, and by human standards, this would appear to be true. However, it has become apparent that there are beings as high above the Q as the Q are above humanity. He had on a few occasions of working with the Old Gray at the time of the First Multiverse War to ensure Yiloala Olpimakia Kutarukia or even The Hunter from creating such chaos across the multiverse.

Biography[]

Q appeared to the crews of several Starfleet vessels and outposts in the Duyi’zu Universe during the 2360s and 2370s in their universe’s time era where in this Alternate universe to the prime counterpart was in a brutal war against the Combine Empire. Played as judge to see where or not humanity would learn front eh makes of their predecessors or failed to improve. As a consequence, all command level officers in the entire Alliance were briefed on his existence thereafter. One such briefing was attended by Benjamin Sisko in 2367 and to Anakin Skywalker. Q typically appeared as a humanoid male, though he could take on other forms if he wished, and was almost always dressed in the uniform of a Starfleet captain.

In every appearance, he demonstrated superior capabilities, but also a mindset that seemed quite unlike what Federation scientists expected for such a powerful being. He had been described, in turn, as "obnoxious," "interfering," and a "pest." However, underneath his acerbic attitude, there seemed to be a hidden agenda to Q's visits that often had the best interests of Humanity at their core.

Personality[]

Q is an extremely powerful and arrogant being who is very sure of his power and superiority over mortal races. Quick to insult and prod, Q enjoys playing with what he considers "lesser" species, making them jump through hoops and testing them for his own amusement. He claims to have an intelligence quotient (I.Q., fittingly) in the millions, compared to an average sapient being. He has been observed to handle timelines better than individuals. Most of his entrances are swift, grand and unexpected. And others have been known for him lying in wait, just around the corner.

Stubborn and petulant, Q behaves in many ways like a small child. To date, the most effective way of getting Q to leave you alone has proved to be simply ignoring him and not giving him the attention he desires. He loves to provoke Commanders William T. Riker and Worf, referring to the latter as "Microbrain". Q called the Duyi’zu Universe his backyard.

Before Spock's encounter with Q, Spock was told that he should "Never approach Q as you would an adult, as he will respond as a child". However, Spock, who considered Q to be "interesting" and "unique", disagreed with the assessment believing that Q would respond to a real threat with alacrity.

While his motives in preparing humanity in general and Jean-Luc Picard in particular for their eventual destiny may seem selfless at first, it should be noted that the fate of the Continuum itself was also at stake so Q's preparations for humanity could easily be seen as being merely acting in his own best interest. Although Q mostly acts like a child he has been known to act selflessly. This "residue of humanity" was influenced partly from Data's advice of the concept. Q viewed the android as his only teacher of humanity, especially after protecting him from the Calamarain. After Data's gesture, Q told him his actions made him far more human than he could ever hope to become. As a reward, Q left Data a few seconds of real, emotional laughter. Duehumanity being the genetically descendants of the Ancients, he had viewed them an inferior version, believes they potentially evolve to be like the Q but fearful they will repeat the same mistakes the Ancients had in their second Civil War that caused the near extinction, Shows some level of mutual respect to other races at the level of the Continuum but doesn’t approve of the Ascended Ancients who he referred as “stubborn and arrogant” for the mess they made in the Eur'uui Universe and earned respect to Daniel Jackson during his time in the ascended plain.

Fully aware of the other Morts, but greatly respect and fearful to the Entities being more powerful than the Continuum and much olderr, he has been familiar with Old Gray and once thought of him as a myth until proven wrong and willing to work with him for important tasks needed.

  • Endea: Q became curious of the dimensional traveller when he first encountered her in the Duyi'zu Universe in the 24th century discovered Endea was part-Gallifreyan from an ancient race of Time Lords from the Doon'kin universes. He became friendly with her over time and on occasions pops by to surprise her to offer places in other universes he is aware of, and offered in timelines on which both he and Old Gray belief be her field of skills. Mostly to enjoy some adventures for his boredom.

Quotes[]

  • Meeting the Voyager Crew in the Filo Universe: “Wait a minute... you weren’t supposed to be in this universe for another century! As a matter of fact, in one reality your ship was meant to be in the Delta Quadrant.”
  • Visiting Trazyn: ”My, my, you really have been expanding your collection beyond your galaxy, a Borg-Cyberman, a Vex Minotaur, Pieces of Eden.... is that Luke Skywalker’s hand? I wondered where that went after the duel in Bespin.”
  • Now you see why they can’t do anything, Jackson? It’s because they are too stricken by their rules and wouldn’t lift a finger to save the universe if the Combine or the Wioni invaded their universe in its infancy, or dare I say... The Hunter itself.”
  • About the Ascendancy’s view in Morts: “Let’s just say, their view on the... Mort as you call them are a mixed view, some believe those with powers could abuse them without understanding them, but also believe to be dangerous and bring disaster unlike some. No doubt this goes back to the Civil War when some went rampant. Personally can’t blame them as my people are one of the few they tolerate as long as we don't cause trouble. In which case I be on their list.”
  • ”Now your fully aware about humanity’s true heritage, the Q have the right to be a little cautious as others. Some believe in the distant future, your species would create a new empire and start this whole civil war again just like the ancients.”

Trivia[]

  • According to some who know Q, he has a habit of messing with people for the amusement to 'test their worth of humanity' like the crew of the Cerritos.
