Rey Skywalker, was a human female Jedi Master from the Viau Universe who fought on the side of the New Galactic Republic in the war against the remnants of the Galactic Empire. She was a former scavenger from the planet Jakku, her life was changed by the tumultuous events of the final Centuries of the Great War discovered her latent Force-sensitivity while on a quest to find the legendary Jedi Master Luke Skywalker and bring a new hope to the Viau Universe from the brink of destruction.
Rey was born on Hyperkarn in 797 ABY (2201 NE), Her father, Dathan, was a bioengineered Strand-Cast cloned from the genetic template of Darth Sidious, the Sith Lord who ruled the Galactic Empire as Emperor Palpatine. The clone and his wife, Miramir, chose to live as simple junk traders in order to hide their daughter, who inherited Sidious' connection to the Force, from his followers. After the deaths of her parents, Rey was forced to survive on her own in the Jakku desert, and eventually became a skilled mechanic, pilot, and combatant in the process of surviving on such a harsh world. Her isolated life was disrupted shortly when the war came Jakku. Determined to help the New Republic and the Alliance. Rey gained several new allies including Finn, a renegade stormtrooper, Jaina Solo Fel, Jinn Skywalker, as well as famous former smuggler Han Solo and Chewbacca. In the course of their journey, she discovered her latent Force powers and sought guidance under Luke Skywalker as his apprentice, who taught her the art of the Force to become a strong Jedi Knight.
It was through Kylo Ren that Rey discovered her origins as the Dark Lord's granddaughter, and upon confronting Sidious in person, she was nearly swayed to the dark side of the Force, thus falling into his trap of transferring his spirit into her, which will allow him to possess her body. Ultimately, she refused his calling and helped Luke ultimately end his long reign of terror for good. Following the end of the civil war, she took on the name Skywalker when she accepted their offer to adopt her, abandoning the Palpatine name for good, becoming another member of the Skywalker clan.
History[]
Pre-Birth[]
In 0 BBY (1414 NE), during the Galactic Civil War and centuries before Rey's birth, her voice was heard by Padawan Ezra Bridger during his brief visit to the World Between Worlds—a place that existed beyond time and space.
Rey and Kylo Ren who would be the culmination of a prophesied Force dyad as well as the Rule of Two. Under the Rule of Two, the knowledge of the Sith passed from a Master to a more powerful Sith apprentice, though its ultimate goal was to create a dyad between two Sith Lords. Darth Plagueis tried to create a dyad with his apprentice, Darth Sidious, who, in turn, tried to create one with Solo's grandfather, Anakin Skywalker. Despite years of searching, the Sith never found a way to form a dyad on their own. Sidious regarded the Rule of Two as a pale imitation and an unworthy but necessary successor to the older, purer doctrine of the dyad that would be ultimately fulfilled by Solo and Rey.
Early Life[]
hunted by the Sith[]
Born on the planet Hyperkarn in 797 ABY (2201 NE), Rey was the daughter of a man named Dathan and woman named Miramir, but their names were later lost to history. Rey's father was the cloned son of Darth Sidious from one of his many failed clones in his revival, making her the granddaughter of the fallen Galactic Emperor and Dark Lord of the Sith, but unlike many was not force-sensitive and avoid his execution. Although Sidious had not anticipated nor aware of his son's marriage with Miramir, he sought to claim their child who, unlike his clone, had a strong connection to the Force. As such, Rey was a receptacle strong enough to hold her grandfather's spirit, which was confined to increasingly less effective clone bodies. To protect Rey from her grandfather, her parents escaped into hiding, choosing to become ordinary junk traders to keep their daughter safe but tried to get their hands on dimensional drive to escape to another galaxy or even universe but had difficulties in doing so.
Rey's parents had a difficult life; they struggled to survive on the desert world Jakku while raising their beloved daughter and in hopes to raise enough to go someplace far. Since the Emperor's son and his wife absconded with their child, the Sith cultist Ochi, on orders from Sidious himself, endeavored to find the strandcast and his daughter. Rey's grandfather had foreseen what she had the capability of becoming, recognizing her immense strength in the Force, and that such power was not mere ordinary power. It was his own power. Because of this, Sidious was determined to make certain that one day, Rey would embrace her destiny as a Palpatine, and of course, the heir of his Sith legacy and successor as Galactic Empress. At the same time, two heroes of the New Republic, Jedi Master Luke Skywalker and former General Landonis Balthazar Calrissian, began investigating a disturbance in the Force after Calrissian had overheard a drunk Ochi discussing his orders to kidnap the young Rey. However, the two never learned the girl's name nor saw the family face-to-face.
Ultimately, Rey's parents returned to Jakku in Ochi's own ship, the Bestoon Legacy, and, trusting that he would look out for his self-interest, hired Unkar Plutt to hide her within Niima Outpost until they returned for her. Above the planet in orbit, they were captured by Ochi; refusing to give up their daughter's location, they were both killed by the hunter on the former Emperor's order. Despite telling herself they lived, Rey, deep down, was left with the belief that their bodies were buried in the Jakku desert, in a paupers' grave, and a suspicion that they had sold her for drinking money. In truth, they were buried by Calrissian and Skywalker on the planet Neftali. Tricked into traveling to the planet Pasaana because Miramir took some Aki-Aki beads from Plutt in case they were caught, Ochi never succeeded in finding Rey and died within Pasaana's Forbidden Valley.
Since Rey's parents had never returned to end their arrangement with Plutt, he considered Rey in debt to him and forced her to work for him to pay it back. With Skywalker and Calrissian and most of the Jedi in the Viau universe unaware of her hiding place or her existence, Rey was forced to grow up alone as a result of her parents' deaths. She endured years of isolation while waiting to be reunited with her parents, having subconsciously suppressed the memory of what she knew to be true—they were no one, and they were dead. Nevertheless, Rey remained hopeful that she would see them again. She recalled voices from her childhood, referring to her as "sweetheart" and promising to return for her one day. Rey had believed that they were her parents, though she was not certain if the promise was made by her mother, her father, or both.
Throughout her life on Jakku, she would sometimes see off-worlders in Niima Outpost, a chief trade outpost on the planet, who she thought might have arrived on Jakku accidentally, unaware of the harsh realities of the desert world. Rey wondered if she was left behind under similar circumstances, if her family had come to Jakku by accident and she was left behind as a result of their misfortune. Whatever the reasons were, she held out hope that her family would return for her one day, though she began to realize that they would never come back. She proved unwilling to admit this even to herself for a long time.
The Scavenger[]

Rey as a Scavenger of Jakku
Forced to survive on Jakku, Rey became a scavenger in the employ of Plutt, trawling through the junk fields of the Starship Graveyard which was littered with the remains of starships and other military technologies from starships that crashed on the planet so long ago. At first, she worked for other scavengers, bringing them the loot she found in crashed New Republic, Galactic Empire, Alliance, and Axis vessels. She heard local stories about how the graveyard formed: that something on the planet that destroys any vessel that gets to close, never discriminating who or what these ships could be. Some even recall a previous battle took place on Jakku centuries ago and forgotten, making an old graveyard of vessels trapped in the sand in varying conditions, and finding working parts became essential in order to earn food portions, the only thing that was up for trade in Niima Outpost. The trades were made by Plutt, who traded salvage Alliance, New Republic, Axis and Imperial rations in exchange for whatever Rey and other scavengers were able to recover. Rey learned that parts that could be repurposed were the most important; anything that could not be put into another ship was worthless to Plutt.
Some of the scavengers that Rey worked for were kind to her, such as Ivano Troade and Mashra. Others, whose names she refused to speak, were not kind, and even viewed her as their property. As Rey's skills as a scavenger grew, she came to realize that while other scavengers needed her, she did not need them. She struck out on her own, utilizing the skills she had to scavenge and survive, but no one took her seriously at first. She was aided by Plutt himself, who told other scavengers to leave Rey alone and would send his thugs after those who did not. Rey did not want his help, and the help was not out of generosity. Rather, Rey was the best scavenger Plutt had and he wanted to continue utilizing her as a source of acquisitions. Rey gained a reputation in Niima Outpost for using her quarterstaff to defend herself, which also kept most people from bothering her—save for the occasional new scavenger who did not know about her, or were so desperate for supplies that they did not care.
Awakening of the Force[]
Escape from Jakku[]
Rey scavenged and climbed throughout the massive Khadoran Warcruiser and brought parts back to Niima Outpost, where she cleaned them up and brought them to Plutt. The materials she brought him on this particular day earned her one quarter portion of food, which she brought back to her home. After eating, she heard panic noises of an astromech droid and rushed to find that the source of the noise, BB-8, had been captured by a Teedo scavenger. Rey rescued the tiny droid and learned that it was on a classified mission—it managed to escape the clutches of the Galactic Empire during an attack on the spiritual village of Tuanul, an attack that Rey had heard rumors of. Rey repaired BB-8's antenna, and pointed the droids towards Niima Outpost. After some convincing by BB-8, Rey allowed the droid to return home with her for one night, before it went on its way the next morning.
The next morning, Rey and BB-8 set up for Niima Outpost. On their way, they were attacked by three bandits who were attempted to steal BB-8. Rey was able to force two of the bandits to crash into each other on their speeder bikes, and tricked Teedo into having his bike eaten by a nightwatcher worm. Rey and BB-8 continued to Niima Outpost, where she handed more salvage material over to Plutt. He offered her one half portion for everything, a collection that Rey reminded him was worth one half portion for each item only a week before. Though Plutt was unmoved, he did offer to give her sixty portions for BB-8. Rey almost accepted the offer, but she soon told Plutt that BB-8 was not for sale. Undeterred, Plutt sent his thugs after Rey to try to take the droid by force—this proved to be useless, however, as Rey made short work of her would be attackers. During the fight, BB-8 caught a glimpse of Finn, a stormtrooper who defected from the First Order, wearing a jacket that belonged to BB-8's master, Poe Dameron.
The droid alerted Rey and a brief chase ensued. She managed to catch the young man and accused him of thievery. Finn explained that the jacket belonged to Dameron and that he was the one who helped the Republic soldier escape from the Finalizer, an escape that he believed had cost Dameron his life. He also claimed that he was a soldier of the Alliance, sent to help Dameron retrieve a message (note:either a map or something else) for Jedi Master Luke Skywalker of the Jedi Order. Unaware of his role in protecting her from Ochi during her childhood, Rey has assumed the Jedi was only a myth. Rey accepted Finn's story that he was actually a member of the Alliance, while BB-8 lamented Finn's news of Dameron. The trio was spotted by a small group of stormtroopers who were sent to recover the droid from Jakku. Rey and Finn attempted to flee their attackers after being fired upon by First Order aligned Imperial TIE fighters until they were came across someone who knew BB-8 and told them to what she first described as "garbage," until the woman retorted that 'garbage' had been in her family's possession for centuries, none other than the Millennium Falcon, Rey took the second pilot's seat while Finn manned one of the quad laser cannons.
