Great Multiverse Wiki

General Trope[]

  • Alien Non-Interference Clause: Downplayed, at least for certain worlds with no advance technology or when crossing over to other realities to avoid revealing their true origins, but also taking up the Star Trek verses' way of not meddling with less advance societies unless to protect them, even for alternate earths with certain historical eras.
  • Alternative Calendar: Played with. While they don't use it all that often, and in fact still regularly use their pre-war calendar, but they do have an alternative calendar that begins after the Black Mesa Incident with BBMI standing for "Before Black Mesa Incident" ABMI being "After Black Mesa Incident" but it was more widely used by the Alliance as a unified calendar system for its' various memberstates.
  • Arch-Enemy: The Empire of the Combine Race
  • Awakening the Sleeping Giant: Sure it took some time for the HVF to get going but once it did, its' resources, forces and materials greatly benefitted the Alliance, and in fact they were the ones to create the Alliance's interuniversial travel method, the Kleiner-Freeman-Vance (or KFV) Drive Systems that gave the Alliance the ability to combat the Axis effectively in the first place.
  • Badass Army: The HVF have an army of veterans who fought in the Uprising and the Civil war, they are regarded as an army who say they were almost on the brink of extinction had it not been the support of the Resistance on Golmar Earth. Even send their best to Alpha Pol Earth to help resistance factions to overthrow the nazi Germans and the Combine. Even helped the New Republic in the Galactic Civil war.
  • Big Good: Or at least one of them, it was the HVF that not played a part in the creation of the Commonwealth of Golmaran States, but also pushed for the creation of the Alliance of Nations which in turn eventually reorganized into the Multiversial Federation so they fit due to those two facts.
  • Cool Ship:
  • Culture Clash: By the time the HVF's current generation who were born on Golmar Earth during the Uprising, they are aware of their history but had also clashed against the people from Pol Earth's 1940s era of their behaviour towards gender and race, especially the Americans and British. It wasn't at all easy for each side to get along at first.
  • Earth That Used to Be Better: Golmar Earth suffered damage after the years of Portal Storms and the Combine Occupation, this slowly subverted as the Federation worked hard to restore the environment, clearing out the Xen alien lifeforms and remove contaminations from the Combine. They were fortunate that the vault that contained DNA samples were spared but would take decades to fully grow them. After discovery of alternate Earths, the HGF made efforts to collect animals and plants to accelerate the restoration.
  • Everyone Has Standards:
    • The HVF was over all familiar of their past history of nuclear weaponry and the damage it can do as why they often butt heads with the United States in Alpha Pol of their view of tactics during the Martian invasion.
    • Some recalled the events of the Civil war against the other factions, they did not entirely enjoyed speaking about it as some felt the conflict was unnecessary and cost of more lives when the human race on Glamor Earth was less than a billion remaining humans. Yet they had to do so as some factions had more sinister intentions and others so blinded by revenge against the Combine that it entered pure self-destruction.
  • Expy:
  • The Federation: A democratic-technocratic one but a example nonetheless, being a largely benevolent, heavily socialistic technocratic democracy that mostly helps its' citizens and have been fighting the Combine Empire ever since.
  • Foil: To several in mind:
    • The Federation of Super Earth:
  • Gender Is No Object: Owning to its' precursor organization's own apathy for the gender of their forces in the revolt, the HVF also continues the same stance as well.
  • Hitler's Time Travel Exemption Act: While it was not proven at first, apart from alternate realities in different time eras, time travel is not to be taken lightly and taken to be very serious to avoid changing history as to why the Alliance later develop an organization in the later future to monitor the timelines.
  • Hold the Line:
  • Humans Are Special: Downplayed, they're not that different from other versions of Humanity scattered across the Known Multiverse but they did invite teleportation technologies centuries before most Earths typically would, although still largely experimental but still became the cornerstones for the HVF's interuniversial and intrauniversial travel methods.
  • Humans are Warriors: Also downplayed as they aren't a warrior culture but they're definitely far more militaristic version of humanity born from decades of Combine occupation, resistance to and fighting the Combine off their version of Earth and continue to fight the Combine for centuries to come knowing that not doing so will only ensure the Combine to come back and try and wipe their planet off completely.
  • Kinetic Weapons Are Just Better: Subverted, early on the HVF's military hardware was a mix between native kinetic weaponry and Combine's dark plasma weaponry and really more a result of limited resources or ability to create much in the way of military hardware but after the HVF started to truly reconstructing itself and repaired enough factories and labs the HVF slowly started phasing out both old kinetic and captured Combine weaponry and replacing them with their own dark plasma weaponry after finally reverse engineering them from Combine weaponry
  • Outgrown Such Silly Superstitions: Slightly subverted for the religion but still practice some to maintain their old customs such as religious holidays. But they have outgrown many things such as racism as they now see each other as humans regardless of race, belief, gender or sexuality.
    • But after their first encounter with worlds of magic and actual supernatural forces, the HVF took this moment to rethink of how approach these forces.
  • Made of Iron:
  • Nerves of Steel:
  • Scavenger World: Especially early in their creation when Golmar Earth was still devastated by the Combine occupation, uprising and civil war so the HVF was forced to do this for a couple of years before stopping due to it finally get back on its' feet long enough to start building and creating new materials and resources
  • Standard Sci-Fi Fleet:
