General Tropes[]

  • Adaptational Badass:
  • Adaptational Expansion: The Terran Empire's lore in the Malica universe is greatly expanded
  • Adaptational Villain: Very downplayed but it is made clear that the Terran Empire very much acted like a empire then the flawed but good guys in Treasure Planet related media, albeit not to the same extent as the later Heartless Empire but its' policies regularly puts it on a warparth and engage in wars of conquest, all of which eventually lead to the start of the Worlds War when the Galactic Federation intervened in the Terran Empire's recent attempt at conquest of another underdeveloped world.
  • Alternative Calendar: For most of its' history, the Terran Empire used the Before and After Formation of the Empire calendar (or AFE/BFE), obviously named so after its' creation.
  • Ambassador:
  • Arch-Enemy: The Procyons and later the Heartless Empire.
  • Big Fancy Castle: The Stuart royal family expected have such, with Queensborough Palace being the more famous of such castles and palaces the royal family have, but it also include the Stuart ancestral castle as well.
  • Civil War: Given its' millennia long history, it has had period of civil war from time to time, though surprisingly not that many given how old it is, and the causes of such civil wars vary a good deal, from two different branches of the same government fighting against each other (either because a faction of the governments tries to create a more authoritarian regime or a particularly ambicious Stuart tried to overthrow the current Stuart sitting on the throne), a war of succession that emerged as a result of the Stuarts own succession crisis and anyone of their many rivals attempting to use that to remove them from the throne only to not get it through peaceful means and so saught to take the throne through more violent means, or parts of the Empire trying to seceed from the Empire.
  • The Clan: The noble houses such as House Stuart.
  • Common Tongue: Many learn to speak Terran, although the non-terrains still retain their native languages while the Terran language is more common up.
  • The Empire: As the name goes by, but led by a king or queen, they were one of the major galactic powers of the Malica Universe before reognizaed into the United Commonwealth with their allies/rivals.
  • Everyone Has Standards:
    • The main reason they didn't fully destroyed themselves along with the Federation is mostly do to the efforts of the Keyblade Wielders and the Ashla Order who served as mediators and keepers of the peace allowing the two sides to reconcile and joined together against the rising Heartless Empire.
    • Like so many civilizations, the Terran Empire fears the Heartless and willing allow the wielders of the Keybladers to deal with them and any other similar threat, like Organization XIII.
    • They do not support slavery, in fact its' outlawed within the Terran Empire and its' territories, taking a more integrationist position with its' various species and happily allow them into their military and government, although it is know they use this intense dislike to justify conquest before.
  • Expy:
  • Democracy Is Flawed: It and the Galactic Federation were democracies at the end of the day, however its' this very system that also leads to some conflicts, as well as the rise of its' hardliners and warhawks.
  • Fantasy Culture Counterpart: Of the British Empire broadly, with specific attention given to its time in the 1700s especially in regards to its' uniforms, weapons and ships, although it eventually began to take on more late Victorian and Edwardian eras near the end of its' existence, and Rome, specifically its' policy of integrating conquered subjects into their ranks and cultural assimilation.
  • Foil: Several examples of those they are different to with the same name yet different.
    • The Terran Empire from Nuyi'zu Universe, ruled by Terran Humans who subjugate worlds, conquer and enslave non-human races in their galaxy.
    • The Grand Terran Empire was originally formed by humans in war, until they became the tyrants.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: Despite their rivalries, and eventual all out war, with the Federation, the Terran Empire in its attempts of saving their remaining worlds from being conquered by the Heartless Empire, the Terran Empire decided to join forces with the Galactic Federation and other galactic powers to stand a better chance against the common foe, all of which eventually resulted in the creation of the United Commonwealths of Worlds.
  • The Good Chancellor and the Evil Chancellor: Given the fact that real power of the government resides in the hands of parliament and especially the Prime Minister, they can and did fall into either trope quite a number of times over its' existence.
  • The Government:
  • The High Queen: For the most part the Terran Empire had mostly queens as their monarchs, although this was not always the case as it did have a few kings as well but are noticeably rare in comparison to their female counterparts.
  • History Repeats Itself: The Terran Empire followed the similar path as the Systems Federation, rising to a stellar power and fallen due to a cosmic war. The Terran Empire almost fallen into this and they not decide to join forces with their allies to prevent the Heartless from dominating or destroy the Malica Universe.
  • Human Aliens: It does have these but a plurality of its' population are Humans that comes from the planet of Terra who are fully human just technologically more advance then most of its' kin in the Malica Universe at the time. It could be due to their Terran ancestors being cut off from the majority of humans for thousands of years have given some new biological traits, yet maintain their physical appearances.
  • Humans are Warriors:
  • Lost Colony: Or rather the Lost Homeworld, Terra is Malica Humanity's original homeworld (supported by the existence of numerous Systems Federation ruins and artifacts the Empire carefully maintains) with all other versions of the planet being intention astrogeographic recreations of the planet to varying degrees of success.
  • Lost Technology: The Terrans had uncovered remnants of the ancient advance technologies that once belonged to the Systems Federation found throughout many worlds in their home galaxy.
  • Low Culture, High Tech: Played With. Its' society and culture is not that different from other space faring civilizations at the time, with it not bating an eye towards women in positions of power or the military, doesn't have issues with LGBTQ peoples, is incredibly inclusive towards any and all races, ethnic groups or species, outright outlaws slavery in its' territories, beit directly or indirectly, and is fairly equalitarian all things considered, yet its' technology and overall aesthetics are heavily influence from much more primitive eras of history with their ships more resembling ancient sailing ships then space fairing vessels and its' citizens and military largely dressed in fashion similar to that of the 1700s, and is still perfectly accepting of their government's expansionistic and imperialistic foreign policy.
  • The Kingdom and The Empire: Uniquely enough Malica's Terran Empire falls into both camps pretty regularly, the way it largely treats its' subjects, the title of their monarchs, and the overall policy of integrating new species and cultures makes it fall into the Kingdom camp, however it also has a expansionistic and imperialistic foreign policy that frequently results in it conquering planets, either through subversions or outright military invasion, and its' called the Terran Empire.
  • Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane:
  • Planet Terra: Hence the human homeworld in the Malica verse.
  • Precursors: As the Terran Empire became this when almost all of their civilization was destroyed by the Heartless, yet they reformed into the United Commonwealths alongside the Galactic Federation and the Procyon Expanse.
  • Space Cold War: Before relations between them were fully destroyed, the Terran Empire had tense relations with other universal powers, originally with the Procyon Expanse and then the United Galactic Federation, which only became more pronounced after the old "world order" of isolationism for much of the universe was fully dissolved, the former of which the Terran Empire increasingly had colder and colder relationship with until it devolved into all out war between it and the United Galactic Federation, sparking the chaotic and society shattering Worlds War.
  • Space Navy: The Royal Terran Navy, in earlier times their ships resemble Earth sailing vessels but near the end of its existence it stopped resembling these... and instead started to resemble early 20th century Earth warships instead.
  • Transplanted Humans: It is indicated that many worlds primary of humans were possibly descended from the original Terrans and settled, presumably some cut off by a catastrophic event or start a new, reveal worlds kept their advance technologies as well as magic alongside them, while others were more pre-industrial state.
  • Vestigial Empire: In the emergence of the Heartless threat and the Organization XIII creating an empire, the Terran Empire had lost a significant portion of their territories, yet still able to fight on and stand against them at the peak of their military and technological might. Yet, Illysa and many knew it was not enough and so did their allies, so the only way have a greater chance was to combine their forces into the Commonwealth. Many fought to honor the legacy of their empire and their fallen comrades.
    • The Novus Sovereignty, one of the great powers of the Firefist coalition how's some remnants of the Empire being the colonists of their citizens to survive in another universe.
  • What the Romans Have Done for Us: *What the Romans Have Done for Us: As much as critics and nationalists hate to admit, the Terran Empire frequently improves the lives of its' subjects, even though directly conquered by it, be it improved healthcare, sharing of knowledge the Empire has to its' new conquered subjects, the freedom to travel the Empire, opening the planet and or system to trade and ensure equality among its' diverse range of species and cultures in all fields, politics and the military included.
  • Worthy Opponent: The Terran Empire largely considered the Federation a worthy foe and their soldiers and officers show them a great amount of respect, which is shared Federation soldiers and officers, it was one of the main reasons why the two sides stopped fighting each other and later formed an alliance against the rising Heartless Empire.
