The common form of The Nightmare

“It is a force of nature that manifests nightmares compared to The Dreamer, any sense of fears or nightmares you have, it will know it.”

The Nightmare, also called the Dragon of Terror, the Manifestor of Dread, the Dark Abyss and the Bringer of Horror respectively, is one of The Entities that are almost old as the Known Multiverse, possibly being one the first entities to come into existence, though the Planter and the Hunter bets it in this regard and the oldest thing in exist is the Plains of Rebirth itself, in which no knows how old that realm is, taking the manifestation of nightmares, horror and dread from the minds of living sentients compared to its counterparts, The Dreamer and The Haunting Voice as it can either take the form or bring the Darkest nightmares and horrors to life. While the Haunting Voice torments and manipulate it's victims, the Nightmare turns brings the fears and nightmares from the subconsciousness of those it confronts. No one knows it’s purpose, some say it plays the role to force its followers to face, or continue to torment them. the Nightmare is not considered evil, neither would it be good, it is a force of nature compared to the other Entities that exist, more so then usual at any rate.

Uniquely, the Nightmare is the only entity that is not sentient whatsoever, being more akin to a sadistic but ultimately non-sentient animal, not a creature with thoughts or feelings, still that does not mean this being isn't a threat, far from it. It's very nature can cause all manner of mayhem for anyone and any world unfortunate enough to deal with the being.

History[]

Known Encounters[]

Early Recordings of its presence has been known to many ancient civilizations, on Remnant, ancient folklore of a black spirit in a shape of a dragon clashed with two dragons: one gold, and another purple, with ancient Remnanti text suggest that the Gods of Light and Darkness once fought against a being that threaten everything and had to join together to fight the beast to a standstill, but not killed it as it simple left after the battle.

Ancient Sith natives and Yuuzhan Vong once worshipped and feared it and believed those who face their greatest fear shall be warrior. The Jedi of the early days of the Order had possible Encounters with this entity but never knew of its true nature, thus led to their part of controlling their emotions from falling to the dark side.

It has made itself known to several Earths in the previous events such as the wizards of Tiu’linkui Earth say it could have possibly connections to the Boggart for their common traits, but unable to prove such theories or perhaps a coincidence.

The Doctor believed to have come across this being that was bringing fear to a colony world, driving them to the point of sanity when they assumed to believe Daleks, Cybermen, or Sontarans were invading but not a sight of them until the Doctor discovered what was going on and able to lure it away to a dimensional rift to which it came through, concluded on his adventures of the being revealed to be one of the Entities of ancient legends. The Doctor saw it as one of the forces of nature never to be underestimated.

First Multiverse War[]

The Nightmare manifested in the Fuyti Universe and drawn it the powers of the Markers a,ingside The Haunting Voice, taking advantage of the humans in that universe to draw out their fears and nightmares during the Necromorph outbreak in 1434 NE to cause more mayhem.

In an incident in a remote planet, the Nightmare Entity was discovered in the remote Fop’lla Universe, arrived in a remote sector during the Chaos Warband against the Combine in the Daemon World Froken, both forces were too distracted to realise until too late as both succumb to their greatest fears when it passed through the world.

Appearance[]

Often seen as a black mist, the Nightmare can take on any form it chooses and travel to many worlds and universes by thought. This entity can change form or create illusions of any fear from a living being in sight.

Notes[]

  • While the Nightmare and the Haunting Voice have similiar embodiments, the Nightmare is considerably more primal of the two, as most of the fears it can manifest in sentients are often those associated with things that their non-sentient ancestors once had to worry about, like predators for example, the Haunting Voice, on the other hand, is slightly less primal and more heavily associated with abstract and or sentient-made fears, as well as the fears of falling victim to other sentients whoms killings aren't the result of nature and survival but one of sadism and cruelty.
  • The Nightmare Entity appears to be drawn to strong dark emotions of horrors.
