The United Commonwealths of Worlds (Formerly known as the United Republics of Worlds) and also known as the Union and the U.C.W was a Civilization that was formed in the Malica Universe in 1345 N.E (New Era) following the Worlds War, it was one of the major Civilizations in the First Multiverse War and became a member of the Alliance of Nations. During the First War, the Union had mainly fought against some members of the Axis of Empires, primarily the Heartless Empire and the Gestahlian Empire.

History

Formation

In 1345 N.E., following the chaos that was the collapse of the two Malican superpowers, the United Galactic Federation and Terran Empire, many of the worlds that were threatened by the growing number of Heartless controlled by groups of warlords Led by Maleficent and Xehanort Cheirismos, came together, the remnants of United Galactic Federation was one of the major forces pushing for a new political entity meant to combat the newly created Heartless Empire, all inspired by groups of legendary heroes known as the Keyblade Wielders who foiled their enemies’ previous attempts of universal conquest, but have disappeared by means of unknown however their heroic deeds were not forgotten and inspired hundreds of worlds to fight back.

The Axis Invasion

The Empire of the Combine Race begin their invasion of the Malica Universe just as the Union had feared while having to deal with the Heartless Empire, agents of the Union discovered those sent by the Combine were the Greater German Empire and the Galactic Empire making their attempt to gain a foothold in the untouched regions of the known Malica Universe, however with the aid of the Alliance, the Union mobilised their fleets led by newly promoted Admiral Gantu to take the two invading forces by surprise with their new KFV drives while the Allies deal with the Combine fleet from building a permanent base in a star cluster.

Government

Officially, the Commonwealths is a Federal Semi-Presidential Constitutional Republic, with a separation of powers based on the executive (Chancellorship), the legislature (Assembly) and the judiciary (Grand Tribunal). While it does work as described, there are certain aspects of the government of the Commonwealths that often confuses people familiar with government types throughout the Multiverse, particularly those from the various Earths.

Within the Commonwealths system of government, the Chancellor is the head of government and is directly elected by popular vote, while the Premier is the head of state and is elected by members of the Assembly via a national election. In short, an inverse of a typical parliamentarian republics throughout the Multiverse, as in that system, the head of state is elected by the people, but in effect, this person only represents the state and does not have any power to make decisions other than some kind of minor role. Meanwhile the head of government is elected by members of parliament who determine who is picked solely on how many seats a party coalition gained who then elects the leader of the party coalition as the head of government.

Predictably, whenever an election comes around, most people pay more attention to the Chancellorship elections as that determines who will become the new head of government rather than an head of state like the legislative elections that not only determine which party coalition controls the most seats in the Assembly but also who will become the Premier. Over time, the Premier increasingly became another part of the Chancellorship's administration, usually as their chief representative in the Assembly, however, this is entirely subject to rather or not the Chancellor's preferred candidate gains the support of their party as well as rather or not their party maintain control of the Assembly, but suffice to say the Premier half of the time serves in the Chancellor's office in some compacity.

The Commonwealths is a federation of various states and communities, a centralized government simply wouldn't work effectively for the vast array of differentiating cultures, societies, and species, thusly, the Commonwealths operates under a federal system, allowing the various worlds and groups to govern themselves far more effectively than a central government could ever do. But the one thing that the Commonwealths enforces in regards to government policy is a strict Republican policy in the local governments, meaning any former nobles can not have a title nor power that they once had. This isn't to say that the nobility is gone in the Commonwealths, far from it, they still exist but the title they still hold is meaningless with the lack of power behind them.

Society and Culture

Ever since its' creation in 1345 NE, following the chaotic events of the Worlds War and the collapse of the Terran Empire and Galactic Federation, the Commonwealths have always been a state founded on Republicanism and equalitarian philosophy and ideology. With every new world that joined, came with the abolishment of its' monarchies and power structure of the old aristocracy and their nobility, with their powers stripped from them and position in their society now gone. While their still nobles found across the Commonwealths, they are effectively powerless, with only their now meaningless titles being the remnants of this earlier period of history.

Notes

• While certainly not to the same extent as the Heartless Empire, the UCW or back then, the URW had a number of megacorporations, although most of them were not as monstrous as the megacorporations in the Empire, although many of them were morally dubious anyway. One of the more interesting and unique megacorporations is BnL Corporation, or the Buy n Large Corporation, as its' not a corporation but instead a worker-controlled cooperative with a overarching ideological that advocates for Corporate Socialism, of whom believe that the only way for socialist goals to be achieved in a capitalist system, a socialist must work within the framework of capitalism, this being the creation of a worker-coop corporations, with the end goal of monopolizing everything to effectively create a socialist utopia.
• Likely owning to many of its' founding states laws, the Commonwealths have AIs and Robots been given equal rights from the start, and used its' position and influence within the Alliance to push AI rights to the rest of the Alliance, even becoming one of the major government backing the Sentient Equality Act.
